Section 1.0

There is no excuse for lateness.

You must pre-consider the 'what if' factor and if you are late do not argue about it.

Accept it and pay the fine.

If you are late the first words out of your mouth must be sorry, apologies need to be given to supervising officers and colleagues.

The suspect will be guilty of the offence of lateness if they are not ready for duty in the stipulated place by the shift start time. There are no acceptable 'windows' a start time is a start time.

The force's generic timing system e.g. PC/laptop or telephone clocks are to be used not personal devices.

The level of fine changes dependent on the suspect's pre-cons and what they are late for.

Defences

Defences are limited for this offence as it is up to the officer to pre-plan travel and navigating unfamiliar locations. However, if the officer can provide evidence that the last communications they received were incorrect and sent by a supervising officer consideration should be given.
